Workshop for Trade Unions
Wednesday 29 September 2021, 9.00am – 1.00pm
As part of the Integrity at Work initiative, Transparency International (TI) Ireland is holding an online workshop to help trade union representatives prepare for the EU Whistleblowing Directive.
When the EU Whistleblowing Directive is transposed into Irish law this year, more organisations will be obliged to establish whistleblowing procedures. Now is the time for employers to review their arrangements and ensure they are in line with best practice.
The aim of this workshop is to inform trade union representatives about their responsibilities under the Protected Disclosures Act (PDA) 2014, outline the requirements of the EU Whistleblowing Directive and share best practice and insights on dealing with reports and disclosures.
The workshop will aim to answer the following questions:
- What are the duties of employers under the PDA?
- What are the requirements of the new EU Whistleblowing Directive?
- What are best practice principles for dealing with reports/disclosures?
- How can employers foster workplaces where staff feel safe to raise a concern?
